About CCD

Welcome to Cascade Community Development Inc. (CCD)! Founded by Mrs. Diane Jackson, a passionate advocate for underserved and disadvantaged veterans and seniors, CCD is a tax-exempt public charity under section 501(c)(3). With a deep commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Summit County, we strive to make a positive impact in the communities we serve.

Mrs. Diane Jackson, inspired by her veteran husband and mother, embarked on this journey after a successful career as a library branch manager at both the Akron-Summit County Public Library and the Stark County District Public Library. Her educational background includes graduation from the University of Akron and Kent State, equipping her with the knowledge and skills to lead CCD to success.

At CCD, our mission is clear: to improve the lives of underserved and disadvantaged veterans and seniors. Through our various programs, we aim to address critical needs and create positive change in the community. One of our primary initiatives focuses on providing essential personal hygiene products and supplies to those in need. With distributions occurring 2-3 times a year, we strive to support organizations such as The Valor House, Liberty House, East Akron Veteran Apartments, and other relevant institutions, ensuring these supplies reach those who need them the most.

In response to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, CCD took proactive measures to protect the health and safety of the community. In 2020, we procured and distributed over 600 Community Wellness Kits, aiding in the fight against the spread of the virus. By promoting health and safety, we demonstrate our unwavering commitment to the well-being of the individuals we serve.

Recognizing the importance of digital literacy in today's society, CCD has facilitated free computer classes tailored specifically for veterans and seniors. These classes are conducted at various accessible locations, including local senior apartment buildings, business facilities, and churches. By equipping individuals with essential computer skills, we empower them to navigate the digital world confidently.

At CCD, we firmly believe in equal access and inclusivity. Our services are available to all veterans and seniors, without discrimination based on race, color, creed, or religious affiliation. We take pride in offering assistance to individuals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring everyone has equal opportunities to benefit from our free programs.

Join us in our mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of underserved veterans and seniors. Together, we can build stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities.
